The “Onsnow” Difference
The crackling of the fire greets arriving guests, and those returning from a day experiencing the white magic of Perisher’s 1245 hectares of skiable terrain. Take time to warm yourself on the inside, and enjoy one of the many offerings from the distillers of Europe who have been providing cold weather comfort in some cases for centuries. Return to the comfort of your room, and as the village lights twinkle through the crisp twilight air, a hot shower, bliss. Spare just a small thought to those hapless individuals battling the traffic on their way back down the mountain, only to have to battle back up tomorrow.
Dinner awaits, but you might just have another of those little numbers the barman recommends, you’re on holidays, make it two. Complete with rosy glow, the buzz of the restaurant beckons, as you sidle into a chair and prepare to consider the chefs offerings, grateful somebody has been working whilst you were out conquering the mountain (amazing what rosy glows do to your skiing ability). Decisions made settle back and watch the Perisher Resort staff swing into action as they prepare the slopes for another day. Dinner companions regale the room with exploits of their boarding and skiing feats, all of which they swear is true (they too have rosy glows). Dinner arrives and you devote your attention to the task at hand, whilst sipping the red. Satisfied you push your plate away less the waiter suggests “thirds” (seconds been and gone… tick it). Back to the bar with that mischievous barman smiling a welcome as only barmen can.
More decisions, collapse in front of the fire here or do the night club thing at Jax, or The Man or The Sundeck have another drink to help you decide. After contemplation of probable snow and ice, with out the aid of brandy equipped St Bernard dogs, the decision is made but you decline, choosing a nice warm bed…
plenty of opportunity for going out later. Another drink before bed…
Refreshed you bound to the window to see Mother Nature has laid her blessing on the Mountain, and equip yourself for another day with the elements. The main element being glorious snow coupled with early lifts to get you away from Front Valley and into the back blocks. It doesn’t get any better than this.
